Impulse!

In-School Performance & Workshop

Bring award-winning improv right into your school with this brand-new, assembly-style performance! This ensemble of improvisors perform scenes and games made up entirely on-the-spot and inspired by audience suggestions. No performance is the same and is guaranteed to provide laughter and joy! This hilarious performance, complete with student involvement and audience interaction, is followed by a workshop where kids (and teachers!) can learn skills to use on or off the stage—a perfect way to demonstrate the power of imagination and creativity while showcasing the talents of young performers.

Educational Goals

At OCT we believe that theatre skills are life skills. Improv teaches teamwork, strong listening skills, creative thinking and helps build self-confidence. Plus, it’s a lot of fun! Using many of the games and exercises we play in Impulse, students will heighten their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Embrace the power of play, and learn through laughter in this highly engaging, interactive performance and demonstration.

What to Expect

When Impulse comes to your school your students will see a 45–55 minute live, Improv comedy show, followed by a live, interactive workshop! After the show, our team of improvisers will work with student and teacher volunteers to demonstrate how these games are played and how the skills we use as improvisers can benefit them in the classroom and beyond. The live performance and workshop can be facilitated for an audience of up to 300 students and will be about 70 minutes in total.

  • Impulse! is recommended for grades 3–12, and can be tailored to which grades are being served.

  • Estimated run-time is 70 minutes (45–55 minute performance and 15-minute workshop).
