Funding Assistance

fan thank you for free tickets

We are committed to bringing theater learning opportunities to low-income schools. In order to increase the number of students and schools we serve each year, we have developed a funding assistance application for teachers.

The information provided by your application helps us to identify areas of need and pursue funding that will allow us to increase the number of free and reduced price tickets available each year.

All public schools where at least 70% of students qualify for federal free/reduced lunch programs are eligible for funding assistance.

Please do not reserve any field trip tickets before hearing back about the status of your application.

If you have questions about the application process, please email or call 503-228-9571 x2.

OCT is excited to introduce Ticket to Read, a program that links literature to live theater by distributing free field trip tickets and the book on which the play is based to low-income schools. Each participating student will receive their own book that is theirs to keep and take home. Our 2015-16 Ticket to Read field trips are Junie B. Jones and Geronimo Stilton: Mouse in Space.

To apply for Ticket to Read, complete the funding assistance application above!

Will every teacher who applies recieve funding assistance?

We will work very hard to fill as many requests as possible. We have already begun soliciting community underwriters to provide funding. If we have to prioritize the applications we receive, here is the criteria we use in evaluating requests:

  • Performance Attendance history
  • Percentage of students qualifying for free/reduced lunch programs
  • Explanation of your classroom-to-field-trip connection

What ways does OCT suggest connecting the field trip experience to in-class learning?

Our Resource Guides, developed and written for classroom teachers, provide benchmark-linked, grade-level specific activities to accompany each show. Visit our Resource Guide page to download materials.
