Small Steps Workshop

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

As part of the Young Professional Program here at OCT, I was lucky to be able to sit in on some of the workshops for the upcoming production of Small Steps. It was truly a fascinating experience. First of all, it was amazing to be able to meet Louis Sachar, the author of both Small Steps and Holes. Secondly, I felt lucky to get a sneak peak at what I think will be an amazing show. Small Steps is one of those rare plays that effectively and gracefully questions the way our society reacts to skin color, people with disabilities, and how teenagers are treated by the adults around them. Plus, it has some pretty rockin’ music. I cannot wait to see this show on stage with lights, sets, and costumes, but the script speaks for itself. Don’t miss out on this show, it’s an experience and a conversation starter that is relevant to everyone’s life, especially in today’s society.
